GM expands axle pin recall to include more pickups, SUVs

It seems that General Motors has discovered that the defective axis cross pins responsible for a current recall have been installed in more vehicles than originally thought. The automaker has expanded the recall of a total of 26 751 vehicles from the 1262 units in the original notice. From now on certain 2011 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Avalanche, are Colorado, Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe models, and GMC Canyon, Sierra and Yukon models included in the latest recall.

As before, the vehicles were built with rear cross pins that may not have been heat treated. As a result, the pieces might slip and break. If this happens, the defect could actually cause the rear axle to lock while driving. Needless to say, the issue could easily cause an accident.

GM replaced the pins for free, if the memory is not scheduled to run until 25 January obtain. The company says that while an owner had a loss of power to the rear axle as a result of the defect, no injuries were reported. Hit the jump, a look at the full remember to take notice.
