Report: Subaru predicts 50% sales hike for 2012 Impreza

According to Ward's Auto Subaru Impreza brass are expected in 2012 to around 60,000 units per year, or half again as many as the car sell the current 40,000-unit total. Subaru executive vice president for North America Tom Doll says the car fills gaps in the history of the company's lineup, it can be on as competitive as it could have been prevented.

Subaru Impreza demands of the new, 36 miles per gallon back on the highway, a number that would put the car on the top of the stack for all-wheel drive fuel economy. The fuel consumption figures come courtesy of a new 2012 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder ruling in 148 horsepower. The forthcoming Impreza is also lighter than its predecessor, so that fuel sipping a little easier.

With all the new tweaks, is Subaru Impreza hope sales, the total mark of 264 000 vehicles last year pushed closer to 300,000. This is to be an exhilarating destination safely, but the company is confident enough to do in the new car appeal to a bold prediction. Only time will tell if this hope is well founded.

New Kickboxer Concept is all-wheel-drive diesel insanity on two wheels

It's been a while since we heard from Ian McElroy. As you may remember, he has the twisted eyes that came with the idea of the filing of a Subaru boxer four-cylinder engine between the rails of a motorcycle frame. Now it seems that he has a busy bee, as was shown taking his first on the concept kick boxer. McElroy has set about Reimagining his creation with a diesel boxer lumps in the center of the action. The engine is still available from Fuji Heavy Industries, although it is both small lumps and efficient than the old petrol.

The latest addition to the kick boxer family offers new body and a different swing arm design with a new turbo configuration. Not crazy enough for you? How about an all-wheel-drive version of the oil-combustion-engine stuck in your pipe? McElroy was a twin-chain design that works with some help from a jack shaft, pinion gear and a drive shaft.

These are not just some random renderings, though. McElroy says it all CAD files it needs to manufacture the bikes and set up. All he needs is to do the coin. Shall we start passing the hat?

Subaru teases Boxer Sports Car Architecture ahead of Geneva debut

Some car manufacturers are taking the latest technology in whatever form they come. Others define themselves to specific functions. Take Subaru, for example, which has built its reputation around two features: all-wheel drive and boxer engines. The joint venture with Toyota sports car on a common platform that can give up AWD Subaru had to have (at least in conceptual form), but it's not budge an inch on the boxer engine configuration.

So far, we have all of the Subaru version of what Toyota calls the FT-86 program seen some spy shots of test mules have modified Impreza body. But to expect both Toyota and Subaru are revealing their own versions of the sports coupe at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, and to arouse our interest, the latter released the single teaser shot you see above, which the boxer engine in a Tron embedded-like presentation of the stroller frame. You can design Factory Five's new mid-engine, WRX-powered kit car

Massachusetts-based Factory Five, has the builder of the Shelby Cobra replicas and the extraordinary GTM race car, a new project vehicle announced. Starting with a Subaru WRX donor car, Factory Five says the team will be able to produce a mid-engined two-seater for under 15,000 $ ... and you can design help.

Factory Five is running the cooperation with Grassroots Motorsports magazine to a public competition. The target for this as-yet unamed sports car will be to the current WRX Auto function and a weight of just 1,800 pounds. It is driving a removable roof, 95-inch wheelbase and Subie engine to the rear wheels.

Stay tuned for more details on this crowdsourcing competition as they arise. Submissions will be accepted from 1 March, according to the official competition rules should be along shortly.

Spy Shots: Subaru FT-86 spied again ahead of Geneva reveal

Subaru has announced that it plans its rear-wheel-drive version of the FT-86 concept in next month's Geneva Motor Show debut. It's safe to say that the joint venture between Toyota and Subaru one of the most anticipated debuts of the year, and during the journey that takes the stage in Switzerland are still labeled as a concept, it should give us a very good impression what's in store for the production car.
Our spy photographers have loyal Subaru version of the sports car, tests taken, and while we have the fast Toyobaru as a coupe-label, this latest set of photos suggests a hatchback configuration. There are still a small back deck, though, so perhaps the term "Fast Track" is better in an instance of it (a bit like the Scion tC) is used. Either way the body looks similar assessment mules we have seen periodically over the last few years, but it is not known if the body is wrapped in camouflage production.
In any case, you can expect to see a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four under the hood, produces something like 260 hp. Subaru broke its all-wheel-drive-only mantra with this new car as the automaker has confirmed that power walk alone to the rear wheels. Remember the sexy sumo wrestlers, who played commercially in a Canadian Subaru Forester in 2008? They're back, and, uh, hotter than ever before?

In this new commercial for the updated 2011 Subaru Forester, the sumos once again front and center, striking poses at the gas station, the beach and - of course - to wash the car. Subaru says that comes with the ranger, sexy standard, and if the automaker definition of what is attractive, then, well, so be it. Nevertheless, these Japanese wrestlers did not hold a candle to Tawny Kitaen.

Subaru's new 2.0-liter boxer: It's better, but does it matter?

Subaru recently invited us to Budapest to get the European-spec 2011 Forester, who was already ... Well, exactly what one would expect (it was fine), but that's not the point here. Importance of the brand new "FB" is engine under the hood - the third generation of Subaru Boxer design - the same device that we will see in the next Impreza. This is essentially a large-down version of our 2.5-liter mill Forester's, when the second generation Impreza EJ25 engine in the current meet. Got it? Good. Let's get our hands dirty ... The new FB20 engine is a small step forward from the EJ20 predecessor, with better performance, emissions and economy (Subaru estimates that mpg is around 10 percent). Americans have to take our word for this improvement, though, as it been years since we had a two-liter turbo Subaru-san did. The motor pulls the slight improvement without the help of direct injection - the absence of which is disappointing. GDI is only ... what do you do when you build a new engine in those days. Subaru has compact outside the box with some other aspects, however, including the design, redesigned combustion chambers, think, chain-driven camshafts and fascinating, "bent" connecting rods - the latter allows the installation and maintenance without separation of the proudest block.One points when discussing the new Subaru engine is to increase the piston stroke without increasing the dimensions of the boxer, especially thanks to a modified valve train and transformed block and head. In fact, the pistons changed quite significantly from the square to EJ (92 x 75mm) to a new long-stroke layout of 84 x 90mm. This change makes the engine low-end grunt, and achieve a stroke increase, without any further extension of the boxer engine is impressive. We are still a little confused as to why this feat matters, though, since all the current applications are already offering a larger 2.5-liter that fits just fine. While the new, more efficient unit was designed with an emphasis on improved low-and mid-range power delivery, we drove the Forester was still need some decent speeds circumvent research. Its full 148 hp meets a pretty average 6,000 rpm, and torque (146 pound-feet) is not up to 4,200 rpm peak. Combined with a fairly long gears and transmissions underwhelming (a four-speed automatic in 2011, really?), The acceleration is not exactly overwhelming. But then again, who cares? You will not in anyway to purchase the motor in a Forester.
So there we have it, Subaru Boxer new four - an interesting, somewhat old-school engine, which is technically better than the outgoing version. But it is not asked in a way, the answer to the question no one? While we are inclined to say much more could be done here, we shall have to see how the new entry-level engine itself handles the Impreza before locking a comment.

Report: 2012 Honda Civic coming in April, all variants to launch in quick succession

A Civic for everyone. This was Soichiro Honda's motto when rolling out of the original Civic, and it is one to which wants to keep his company with the launch of the next generation model. If the all-new 2012 Civic will be launched in April, Honda will roll out a range of body configurations and propulsion systems within weeks of each other, rather than months to get between the debut from one model to another.

Among these variations, we can expect both a sedan and a coupe, with multiple conventional petrol engines on offer - including natural gas and hybrid versions - as well as the sporty Civic Si.

The new Civic, recently at the Detroit Auto Show preview, was scheduled to debut in 2009. But if the world economy started going south, Honda sent the design back to the drawing board for an almost complete overhaul before it ever saw the light of day. The result is expected to be much larger than the current model, even if the exterior design is not changed all that much.

Rumormill: Subaru hybrid headed to U.S. in 2013

Subaru finally seems to be willing to give the hybrid segment. Not surprisingly, given the many rumors and reports, the Japanese automaker, which has close links to it first hybridized Toyota vehicle is to start by the end of 2012.
