Chicago 2011: Hyundai Veloster Rally Car is ready to duel in U.S. Rallycross

Rhys Millen drove his new Hyundai Veloster Rally Car in the spotlight at the Chicago Auto Show this morning. The purpose-built race car with a hand-built Hyundai built 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a turbocharger HKS ball bearing reinforced. As expected, the animal makes some serious power. According to Hyundai, the four-banger spits out 500 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. A Xtrac six-speed manual transmission sends power to an Xtrac sequential permanent four-wheel drive system. The suspension of Jumbo Proflex coilovers that this competition give Veloster generous travel together to help. Hidden within the 18-inch alloy wheels HRE (wrapped in 245/40-18 Hankook racing tires) are 14-inch Alcon rotors front and 12-inch Alcon rotors in the rear (six-piston calipers sit on all four corners) . With a curb weight of just 2656 pounds, the Veloster Rally Car's acceleration would have to be ... um, get sick.

Check out the Veloster Rally Car this year, driven as it competes in the 2011 U.S. Cross Rally Championship by Millen, Robbie Maddison and Mark Dodd. Maddison and Millen will drive Veloster rally cars at Summer X Games, where they compete against Ken Block and Tanner Foust in their Ford Fiesta racing cars, among others. Should be fun.

There are more famous racing family as the Millers, but not many. While Steve Millen was closely linked to Nissan finds his brother and nephew have long been associated with the name Hyundai was the nephew Rhys Millen, know we love and the drifting champion. And this is the latest tool of his trade.
Rhys Millen Racing with the new coupe Veloster that last month's Detroit auto show debut, preferring to start anything. A second car for Maddison is to share with Rally Champion Marcus Dodd also built in the United States Rally Cross Championship, while a third front car with driver will be built for Celebrity.
