2012 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet drops its top for the drive to Geneva

Ladies and gentlemen, has returned to the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet. One of the popular series made by the Golf Cabrio convertible ever from the VW range has been missing since the MkIV model was discontinued in 2003. Nevertheless, the youngest was just a convertible car with a touched-up MkIII front end, so that the last new Golf convertible was actually introduced in 1993. So this is a bit of a milestone.
What the Eos, you ask? A fine question. Probably closer to the Jetta in the first place the name, the Eos next to the Golf Cabriolet (not the New Beetle convertible, which is due, the production end of this year is mentioned before his replacement) continued. The Eos is longer than the Golf Cabrio, although the same wheelbase provides similar interior dimensions. The Eos has a retractable hardtop, while the new Golf convertible fabric roof is the route that both bases. The golf mechanism takes to drop just 9.5 seconds and can be operated up to 18 miles per hour at speeds. With the roof itself as cover, less trunk space is compromised.
A series of six turbocharged, direct injection gasoline and diesel engines will be offered worldwide, five of them with dual-clutch gearbox and three with BlueMotion technology.
There is no word on availability for us in the United States, but given the similarity with the Eos and the company's strategy vis-a-vis the Scirocco, it is quite possible this could remain beyond our reach as this. We have Cabriolet a closer look at the Gulf when it debuts next week at the Geneva Motor Show, but now you can watch the pictures in the gallery below and the details in the press release after the jump.

Report: NHTSA investigation into 100,000 VW and Audi diesels intensifies

According to The Detroit News is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration turning up the heat on the investigation of faulty fuel pumps Volkswagen. The administration has announced that it is currently examining 97 272 diesel Volkswagen and Audi vehicles after receiving 160 complaints about the issue. NHTSA says that in about half of the complaints, the bad pumps in a stalling of the engine on the highway or in traffic, the engine out of restarts prevented. Nevertheless, no serious accidents have been attributed to faulty pump, although a minor fender bender was reported as a result of the issue.

The study includes 2010 Golf Hatchback, 2009-2010 Jetta sedan and 2010 Audi A3 certain models.

Volkswagen says that the fuel has questions they have encountered have been contaminated by diesel fuel with gasoline pump. The company says that even a small amount of gas mixed with diesel fuel in the pumps can be switched off. Unfortunately for thusly affected owners, fuel system damage is not covered by the warranty by using the wrong fuel.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen has some 120 separate NHTSA fuel slips, some of which came courtesy of dealers and service personnel with the wrong fuel information.

VW headed to Nürburgring enduro with Golf24 racer

Volkswagen will be at the Nurburgring 24-hour race this year after that, the new Golf24 race car. It's a hot little number and we will see it to take to the track during the official race events, which extend from June 23 to 26.

Under the hood, Volkswagen 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five engine, even though output was pushed to 434 hp and 398 pound-feet of torque. This power is managed by a six-speed sequential gearbox and runs on the ground of permanent four-wheel drive. Combine that with a body that has been optimized to keep the car as flat as possible around corners, and what we have here, golf is a really fast that is willing to eat the competition.

The last time was a Volkswagen Golf in a race at the Nürburgring in 2007, when a 296-hp, front-wheel-drive as a whole placed eighth. Since then, the automaker's Scirocco GT24 for 'ring made mandatory, but since 2011 marks the 35th Anniversary of the infamous GTI hot hatch, it was decided that VW was a completely new Golf-based car in order.
