Report: Toyota to market in-home chargers in 2012

The Toyota Prius plug-in will not hit dealer showrooms by 2012. Before that happens, Toyota is getting ready to produce an "add-on for the vehicle, but it's one you will not be taken to do with the car. What are we talking about? A home charging station.

Up to $ 2,045 (200,000 yen) Priced when you install, two charging stations are available: a mounted to an exterior wall and one should keep in a garage.

The Chargers will reportedly compatible with other car brands (provided they use the same plug-standards, we would guess ...) and the automaker expects 20000-30000 sell in the first year alone. That's a lot of electrifying, right?

First Drive: 2012 Fisker Karma

Business partner Henrik Fisker and Bernhard Koehler are clearly nervous. While it every ounce of their focus on this important launch of their first baby, the 2012 Fisker Karma will devote their attention steadily away from her large of conference calls are moved over the money and logistics for the launch of the all Fisker Automotive Franchise. Are they really and truly the answer to a $ 95,900 - $ 108,900 question with this bold attempt to ask enough people? It is clear that they do just that we in love with her lux'd to plug-in electric car with extended-range fall sedan.
We have been in handling the infield circuit at California Speedway in Fontana to go by helicopter to an active in one of the first completed Fisker Automotive review prototypes of karma, by Valmet Automotive in Uusikaupunki, Finland made. We are already assuming that the build quality and finish of all the wonderful parts is good as Valmet has learned a lot about these things, while cars built to strict standards for Porsche in Stuttgart. We already know that the car is in fact pretty inside and outside, though particularly for some out there, because Fisker has designed lovely lady lumps forgotten as the Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage not to mention the BMW Z8 roadster. Fisker Coach Build started back in 2005 when it had both Henrik and Chief Operating Officer Bernhard Koehler enough cycles of slow project in Orange County had Ford Advanced Design Studio. But she liked the area throughout the year remained about the weather and the surrounding plushness, so put it in the OC.

Report: Some dealers price gouging Chevy Volt up to $65K

Although some Chevrolet dealers were warned not to sell the Volt on the EIA, there is a clear trend across the country, where some merchants try to make a few (thousand) dollars away, the popular plug-in vehicle . In fact, Ward's car found a dealer in Florida that listing is one volt for $ 65,590. This is a little more than the car retail price $ 41,000.

We heard about the possibility of sky-high mark-ups in the last year, but it turns out, there is very little of General Motors can do in this situation. As GM Tony DiSalle said Ward's Auto "is not a mechanism to prevent this. "Motor Trend also found volts across the country at $ 46,923 (MI), is $ 47,700 (CA) and $ 49 000 Price (NC). Suppose that, why you should never trust EIA, huh?

Our advice is to keep to the basket, until you find a dealer willing to GM stated asking price of honor, even if it means waiting a little longer for your future plug-in machine.

Geneva Preview: Honda to unveil EV concept and PHEV platform

Honda is still toting the company line, the plug-in vehicles are a "near-future technology" and that the ultimate goal of the green, driving is a choice of mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, such as its own FCX Clarity. This despite the presence of the new production of plug-in vehicles (Leaf, volts, etc) on the road today.
be independent of whether you subscribe to Honda's way of thinking, it's always a pleasure to welcome a new electric vehicle concept from a major automaker, and that is exactly what the Japanese automaker will bring the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
Honda says, "The Honda EV Concept hints strongly on the direction and styling for Honda's upcoming production electric vehicle, the Fit EV that are in the U.S. and Japan, introduced in 2012." Honda also notes that the concept is designed to "meet the daily driving needs of the average urban commuter," and to that end, seats five passengers and has room for their cargo in the hatch.
The range will come at 100 miles (with the help of the U.S. LA4 City Cycle), and it will (as seen in the CR-Z hybrid sedan), three separate driving modes along with "several interactive coaching systems to the driver in maximizing support battery area. "Honda will also show a matching prototype Honda EV recharging stand
The other major draw at the Honda display will be a new plug-in hybrid platform to showcase the automaker's next-gen two-motor hybrid powertrain. All-electric, gasoline-electric engine and a direct-drive mode: In contrast to existing integrated Honda Motor Assist technology, be it a full hybrid system with three modes. about the size of an Accord, we would imagine - Honda has packed the hybrid technology in a midsize platform.
We're looking forward to see what Honda has in store for Geneva, but in the meantime, feel free, however, in the press release after the break to scan for more information.

Chevy Volt coming soon to a reality show near you; also, Transformers 3

Apparently it is not enough to scream scream, and drama to the Chevrolet Volt. GM wants more. This time, however, staged the riot light and filmed for our entertainment. At least is the plan, if General Motors finds a partner in its quest to bring the Volt to a reality show. Public information is not available, but the talks have apparently been for "a show in development," Reuters reports started. The car will also be promoted digital when the third movie Transformers comes out this summer. Money well spent, GM, because who the effects in Transformers had the Chevy Jolt can forget: Revenge of the Fallen?

GM told Reuters, we increase its TV entertainment spending in the coming year, partly because of "a growing interest in more women to achieve." In 2009 and 2010, GM spent an estimated $ 185,000,000 in sponsorships, down from about $ 230-250000000 in 2006 and 2008.
