Toyota-based Subaru Trezia hatchback headed to Europe
When we come to Toyota-Subaru cooperation, the first thing that is the highly anticipated rear-wheel-drive "Toyobaru" project in mind to think. But while the FT-86 and his siblings first Subie are in our thoughts, it was not number one on the market.
Automotive News reports that Subaru is present on the Trezia petrol engine in March at the Geneva Motor Show. The spacious five-door model, which closely will mirror the Honda Fit in most any measurement, a near spot-on game of the Toyota Verso on it, but with an Impreza-style grille opened the front clip and sprinkled some Subaru badging throughought. Both the Toyota Verso (named Ractis for JDM consumption) and Subaru Trezia be sold in Japan now, and both vehicles will be € showrooms this spring.
In Japan, the Trezia mated by a choice of 1.3 liter and 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine to a CVT-powered, but is in Europe of 1.5 with a 1.4-liter diesel to be replaced. In Japan, the Trezia with all-wheel-drive can provide car buyers check off the box for the more powerful engine, which had to be probably the turbo diesel in Europe.
With its spacious interior and tiny footprint, the Trezia is likely to do well overseas. But will we ever Subaru Fit-fighter in North America? With gas prices again on the rise, it might not be a bad idea.
