Lotus Elise Club Racer is stripped-out, Geneva-bound hotness

Lotus, the car manufacturer, defines what it means, "add lightness", has created an even more stripped down version of the already flyweight Elise. Called the Club Racer, this light two-seater will make its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show next month.

The Elise is a Club Racer with 52 pounds lighter than the standard car, and Lotus achieves this by using the noise reduction and the use of a motor racing-derived lightweight battery. This might not seem like a huge weight savings, but considering that the ground already Elise weighs less than the 2,000-pound mark, even a small weight reduction is noticeable.

To the Club Racer even more special, Lotus has fitted a sports setting for Auto-Dynamic Performance Management (DPM) system. This advanced driving assistance allows less experienced drivers feel at the top of their game, and can be turned off completely for the experienced enthusiast.

Looking to go to the Elise Club Racer on sale in the near future of £ 27,500 ($ 44,590 at current exchange rates) price. Currently it is unclear whether the club racer is in the United States, but we should have more details after the car's official debut in Geneva in a few weeks. For now, follow the jump for the official press release read.
