Watch This: Pay for your latte with your BMW key
NFC. If you are not familiar with it, get ready for another acronym to add to your repertoire. It stands for Near Field Communication, and while it is been for a while, the tech is about to go mainstream in the U.S. and abroad.
NFC is a short-distance, high-frequency wireless technology, devices, data when they exchange within about four inches from each other. It is already on the Samsung Nexus S equipped and there is a rumor coming to the iPhone 5 in June of this year. But what does it do?
In short, many things. First and foremost, ticketing, information and payments. And BMW is planning in NFC's potential to the next generation ConnectedDrive that the technology is in its key ring tap over it. Through the use of wireless technology could unlock your BMW key a door, identify your home or money at Starbucks. The applications were not completely fleshed out, but BMW wants are important.
