Toyota opens first new plant in Japan in almost 20 years

The yen is soaring, and that means it will cost Japanese manufacturers a lot of money, goods for sale here in the United States. Some areas of moving production to other countries, but Toyota has decided to release its first new Japanese assembly plant open in nearly 20 years.

Toyota's latest work is the work Miyagi called and sits 160 miles north of Tokyo. Currently there is only limited production on the work Yaris, but Toyota plans to add two more compact vehicles through April.

This new facility is designed to cut energy demand and accelerate the production efforts. Cars are positioned parallel to each other on the track rather than nose to tail. This is a working over the front and back of the vehicles to do the same. Time was on the line assebmly by 35 percent, cut because of this movement.

Changes in the production and facilities, such as in the new factory employs Miyagi, will help Toyota reduce its capital spending by more than 40 percent. A huge savings for a Japanese manufacturer, patiently waiting for that to play for the U.S. dollar to catch up with the yen.
