Development on next-gen Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon underway?

Ford may be up to the Rangers here have in the United States, but it looks like General Motors has big plans for the mid-size pickup market. According to PickupTrucks.com, the general is currently hard at the next generation, both the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. The current generation is likely Colorado / Canyon is scheduled to end production by mid 2012 and from what we hear is the next-gen GM pickup on the GMI 700 Body-on-frame truck platform small global basis. These bones are set to receive this year's Thailand International Motor Show to unveil in Bangkok.

PickupTrucks.com reports that GM had originally planned impasse Colorado Canyon and total production for this generation, but these plans seem to have changed. Nevertheless, it seems that there is at least two and a half years before the latest versions of the General Motors mid-size pickup is shown, which means it can be a bit of a gap in production between the time of death of the old line and the new stands and running.
