Report: Mexico's Mastretta hoping to turn Top Gear notoriety into sales


Mexican Sports car Mastretta manufacturer makes the best of a bad situation. The company tries to insulting comments about the excitement that the presenters of Top Gear on the car manufacturers and made to capitalize on Mexico in general. After Drive.com since the incident, the company's website traffic soared into the air, and more importantly, orders for the Mastretta MXT have also jumped. According to Carlos Mastretta, the company General Manager, the manufacturer now has orders from countries in Europe, Brazil and Chile. Mastretta has recently begun to receive inquiries from the U.S., as well.

The jump in the attention is only because of the dust on the Top Gear comments. After the MXT Drive.com was a relatively unknown - even in his homeland. While Mastretta is a well known manufacturer of public transport, few knew that the company's ambassador to Great Britain for the new sports car before the hearing on the confrontation between the BBC and Mexico.

The Mastretta MXT is powered by a supercharged 2.0-liter Ford Duratec four-cylinder engine with 250 hp, and the company says that the vehicle should be good for 0-60 mph strokes in the high four-second range thanks its lightweight design.
