Audi hits the slopes with advanced carbon ski design



Auto manufacturers are constantly looking for potential synergies. Downhill skiing would not be one of the areas that you think they would could find him, but we have enough examples to prove that was the opposite, and Ferrari Dynastar, Salomon and Saab, Zai and Bentley, Volant and Infiniti .. . and now Audi has joined the party with an advanced carbon fiber ski design.

In cooperation with sporting goods manufacturer Head and drawing from Audi partnership with the German Ski Association, developed Audi Concept Design in Munich this carbon skis, which at once both rigid and flexible than previous designs. They are built around a wood core, sandwich coated with aluminum and titanium and carbon fiber.

The result will be lighter than about 200 grams than a comparable conventional design. While they are an important concept at the time, Audi is testing the skis and head for production potential. Interested? Follow the jump for more details in the full press release.
