Report: Mississippi under fire for considering KKK leader and Confederate hero on license plate


Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour is under attack because there are the efforts of state Sons of Confederate Veterans a license plate commemorating the Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest ordered Institute. Historically, Forrest has been celebrated both for his military brilliance and condemned for his brutality, both during and after the Civil War. The overall pass shameful black Union troops at Fort Pillow Tennessee in 1864 and was slaughtered at a Grand Wizard in the KKK after the war.
The Sons of Confederate Veterans, now say that the indicator is intended to commemorate the lost lives in war and that a number of black soldiers served in the general during his command.

Mississippi currently has a license plate to commemorate the Civil War, and funds from the plates go to the maintenance of the state collection of Confederate flags and restore Beauvoir - the last home of Confederate President Jefferson Davis. The Forrest commemorative license plate is scheduled to debut around 2014.
Governor Barbour, now says that he is not interested in denouncing man or the license plate proposal, even if he feels there is little chance the panel making its way into production.
