Report: No Volkswagen Polo R for you!


If you thought that adaptation of the Audi A1 platform for all-wheel-drive would be the door for an AWD version of the Volkswagen Polo and open, think again. Although the A1 and the Polo a common platform, is the recent reports that Volkswagen has no plans to apply the technology for four-wheel-drive version of the Cross Polo or a hot Polo R.

This platform was never intended to accommodate all-wheel drive, Audi but he saw it fit to optimize things, to accommodate a Quattro version of the A1. The potential was speculation on how this could be for Volkswagen use are adapted aroused, but according to the reports, VW Polo, feels that an R - with AWD or not - would amount to the already limited space between the above graduated Polo GTI and the Golf GTI . Meanwhile, says the car manufacturers that the soft-road CrossPolo is already popular enough to make front-wheel-drive, and Audi already the foundation, the additional costs of adapting the high-riding polo all-wheel drive would not be worth the return.
