The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was a performance monster, with all-aluminum engine displacing 427 cubic inches, which was originally designed for racing. Only 69 units were built, and they are much sought after by collectors today. Perhaps it should not surprise, then, that with this classic Chevrolet revived moniker chosen for what he calls the fastest and most technologically advanced Camaro ever built.
At this point details are still preliminary, but Chevrolet is estimating that its supercharged and intercooled 6.2-liter LSA V-8 engine will put out around 550 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque. The ponies are the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission with a dual-disc clutch, which is necessary to properly use all the horses are sent. There is also a dual-mode exhaust system, the noise level and nature of changes in response to engine speed.
Chevrolet tells us that their goal was to build "a Camaro is to achieve optimum lap times on road-race tracks and excellent driving dynamics on the road." To this end, the 2012 ZL1 Camaro will be a new electric power steering and Magnetic Ride Control, that offer both tours and sports modes is. Brembo brakes measure 14.6 inches (370 mm) in the front (with six-piston calipers) and 14.4-inch (365 mm) on the back (with four-piston calipers) bring it back to bottom speed.
Of course there is an updated body kit on the ZL1 be distinguished from lesser machines. Most striking are the newly designed hood that a front splitter, vertical, front fog lamps and air intakes for brake cooling features developed. There is also a new aluminum hood with a raised insert satin black finish carbon fiber, a unique air vent, use that to increase output through line oncoming air over the car. There is also a spoiler at the rear of the car and new 20-inch aluminum wheels with specially developed Goodyear Supercar tires F2.
