Report: A1GP back this fall as A10 World Series

Open-wheel racing fans may remember, A1GP, as the self-proclaimed World Cup of Motorsport. The specification Racing Series national teams pitted against each other in identical cars - the last iteration with developed and powered by Ferrari - on race tracks across Europe and around the world. It was a promising idea (at least once organizers were positioned as a viable step on the ladder to F1 and not as a rival series), but financial problems saw the series liquidated by end 2009.

Reports of the A1GP revival ever since the circulation, but by Autosport - the publication of the plate when it comes to international motor sport - the series will return next fall.

Few details were disclosed, except to say that a "leading motor sport figure " (we would guess a former F1 champion), the group of investors who are behind the efforts of the head, and that the A10 World Series (which will hopefully nevertheless be renamed 't with the World Series by Renault to be confused).

During the last A1GP race between Europe and overseas were in balance, the new focus on allegedly new motorsport markets. So, figure on a heavy calendar in Asia with a number of races in the Gulf Emirates and the Far East. As for the machines, the new series would take the abandoned Ferrari chassis or go with another design.
