Report: Mitsubishi to kill Eclipse, Endeavor and Galant


It turns out that we heard about the rumors are true languishing Mitsubishi lineup. According to Automotive News, Mitsubishi is planning to drop the ax on the totality of its American portfolio of vehicles to begin the construction of new global platforms here in the States. This means that the Eclipse, Galant and Endeavor are all sent out to pasture gradually between now and 2014. In its place, Mitsubishi is likely to start building cars and crossovers from the Lancer and Outlander bone at the company Normal, Illinois plant. At least some of these vehicles are hybrid or battery powered.

Mitsubishi has made it clear that the company will be eight hybrid and battery cars have up to 2015 in a step to be better prepared for the rising fuel prices. The company saw sales growth of about three percent last year and in 2013 or 2014, the automaker says that the number seen at 37 percent plans. This would mean that Mitsubishi would have a total of 1.37 million vehicles, up to this time shift.
