Dodge Journey-based Fiat Freemont will debut in Geneva

Chrysler has many partnerships over the years had, and as odd as it may have seemed at the beginning of tie-in with the Fiat probably more sensible than this past pairings. Chrysler does not have much of a presence overseas, and Fiat is not in North America. Putting them together, then this could be the perfect formula for global success. The Fiat 500 is coming to North America, and while we Chrysler vehicles have been hearing is sent to Europe for some time, this is the first real evidence.

The vehicle you see here will be presented at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, the Fiat Freemont. Sound familiar? That's because it is essentially the Dodge Journey is a different badge on the nose. Otherwise it is produced essentially the same vehicle, next to the trip at the same plant in Toluca, Mexico.

The only major difference is speaking under the hood, where Fiat's own 2.0-liter Multijet turbo diesel engines (with 140 or 170 hp) with front-wheel drive and manual transmissions will be offered initially. Four-wheel drive, automatic transmission and Chrysler 3.6-liter V6 is Pentastar shorly available after launch. The details are in the press release after the break, and you will see the travel-come-Fiat even in high-res gallery below.
